Quad Bikes

Quad bikes are everywhere these days from bustling town centres to quiet rolling hills of the countryside. They have replaced Land Rovers on the farm and forklift trucks, basically wherever anything needs to be transported over rough ground or off-road, whether in a forest or a factory complex. The four-wheel, go-anywhere quad bikes has become so indispensable that we take it for granted.

It is the motorised family pet. Children as young as six learn to drive the smaller versions, while boy racers of all ages pit their skills competing against each other on the race course, and corporate man and woman bond or compete on off-road trials. To many, the most surprising thing about the quad bike is that it is only 21 years old. Check out our Hurricane quad bikes, which range from 100cc to 200cc. We also stock road legal quad bikes manufactured by Hurricane which are the new craze hitting the streets up and down the country.

Quad Bikes

Like so many Japanese inventions, ATV, all-terrain vehicles such as the quad bikes, began as sophisticated adult toys and became a covetable status symbol with an international appeal. Japanese farmers soon appreciated the usefulness of the go-anywhere, fat-tyred motorised tricycles invented by Honda in 1969 and their popularity increased as they were used to travel to the nearest town when roads were otherwise impassable as a result of flooding.

It was inevitable that racing versions of the bikes were developed. Honda's first official sporting version of the bike was raced in the Arizona desert in 1981, in an official three-wheel class.
The real demand for them, however, was as a versatile, fuel-efficient workhorse, which could cross rough and steep terrain. Modifications to engines and load carrying ensured that their popularity grew steadily, but it was the addition of a fourth wheel in 1984, which was the big breakthrough for the quad bike. Sales rocketed, particularly in the US.

Road Legal Quad Bikes

Thirty-five years on from the prototype and renamed quad bikes by the British, they are shrugging off the image of the reliable rural workhorse and emerging as affordable road legal quad bikes.

The appeal of road legal quad bikes as exciting toys continues into adulthood. It is one of the most popular activities offered by the increasing number of companies combining corporate entertainment and leisure activities. With the increased popularity of riding quad bikes by adults, we have introduced the Hurricane Road legal quad bike, which features a Reliable and Powerful 110cc 4-stroke engine.

History of the Road Legal Quad bikes
The term "all-terrain vehicle" is used to describe a number of small open motorised buggies and tricycles designed for off-road use.

The 4-wheeled versions are also called a quad bikes or quads. Models with 3 wheels are called all-terrain (motor)cycles or ATCs. 6 and 8 wheel models exist for specialized applications. The rider sits on these models just like on a motorcycle, but the extra wheels make them more stable at slow speeds.
